So very excited to bring my typewriter Audrey down to the Brewery Market in Halifax tomorrow morning, to shill poems for such a worthy cause: the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia's Maxine Tynes Poetry Award! (Also available for order online until Sunday!). There are also opportunties to get poems at the markets in Wolfville and Lunenburg!!
Listen to Ami McKay (🤯🤯🤯) and I chat with CBC Main Street's Jeff Douglas about the initiative here!
Come down, say hi, buy a poem (or not!). I would so love to see you and hear about who you love during this FUNdraiser.
It's the perfect gift for whoever your Valentine may be (a romantic love, a pet, a friend, a family member, or an enemy--I'm really hoping for one of these, lol!). Get the full details at
Here is a sample poem I was honoured to write for Miia Suokonautio of the YWCA, for her husband (and writer extraordinaire!), Chris Benjamin.
Great Love (Capital G, Capital L)
They say that marriage has three rings:
engagement, wedding, and suffer.
But you and I,
we know better, because
life can be a boxing ring and I'm so grateful to have and to hold you
in my corner.
We've welcomed life and
said good-byes.
Even the bad is better with you
by my side.
I'll mend your socks while you wash the dishes.
You fill the sink and fulfill my wildest wishes. I'm so glad you're my slice of humble pie, and together we've built this Great Love,
with a Capital G, Capital L.
