Other Endeavors

Seven individuals sitting around a wood table full of cups and plates. There is a tree in the middle of the table and water in the background out the window.

The Tufts Cove Writers' Collective

Named after Dartmouth's iconic smokestacks, the Tufts Cove Writers' Collective (TCWC) provides feedback and support to members as they develop their craft. We began as a group of socially distanced strangers gathering in backyards during the height of the pandemic, to a close-knit group of friends and writing peers.

Dart Speak

Dart Speak is a volunteer-run, pay-what-you-can writers' open mic hosted by the TCWC and the Dart Gallery in downtown Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It's an inclusive, welcoming space for new, emerging, and established writers to gather with fellow writers and readers, share their work, and gain
important skills for their careers. The venue is accessible (other than two stairs to get to the washroom).

Dart Speak is held the first Thursday of every month. Find out more on the Dart Speak Facebook page.

Poets on ICE

I'm partnering with the Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival again this year to create a display of winter-themed poems encapsulated in ice blocks! There are three ways to get involved:

  • Submit a poem to be frozen (ten lucky poets from the HRM will be selected to have their poem frozen by me!)

  • Make your own poem on ice and bring it to the Ice Festival for display (check out Instagram for my instructional video!).

  • Come down and read all the beautiful poems and see the amazing ice sculptures at this wonderful community event!

  • Visit my blog for submission details :)

The Bull Pen

Occasional typewriter meetups co-hosted with the wonderful Aren Morris at the Dart Gallery!

If you have a typewriter, bring it down! If you don't, there might be a spare, or you can write by hand to the tune of all the click-clacking!
